Organic Seed Research and Education Grants
Organic Seed Research and Education Grants provide critical funding to organic farmers, educators, researchers and others to improve organic seed quality and crop breeding.
Increasing the resiliency and diversity of organic seed systems requires strengthening farmers’ roles as seed innovators. All research funded by Seed Matters grants occurs on certified organic farms. These grants improve crops for farmers across the country – from broccoli in North Carolina to corn in
the Dakotas.
Grants are managed by our partners at the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF), who welcome proposals twice per year. For deadlines and additional information visit OFRF.

Organic corn growers struggle to keep their crops free of contamination from genetically engineered corn. Learn how Frank Kutka, a Seed Matters grant recipient, is breeding organic corn varieties that naturally reject pollen from genetically engineered corn.
